I've just completed the purchase of a Bav 36 Cruiser 2005 model. (woo hoo)

Unfortunately the boat is a few thousand miles away in the med & has all the manuals on board which I cant get to read until next March :(

1st question, does anyone know which sail drive was fitted to that model (Engine is an MD2030)

2nd question is there an online source for any workshop manuals for the saildrive and/or the rest of the boat for that matter so i can torture myself, sorry "familiarise" myself with the theoretical workings of the boat to tide me over until I can get to play for real :)

Thanks

The saildrive will almost certainly be a 120S. I say "almost" because that was the transition year for Volvo and there were some of the old engines fitted with the later saildrives. In practical terms the only difference is the anode, and this is the visually distinguishing feature, although there are internal changes including a different gear ratio to suit the lower revving D1 series engines.

Thanks Chaps, that's exactly the info I was looking for.

I havnt seen the anode although I do know it's a two-part affair

Thanks Geoff.

I guess the next question is Engine oil or ATF. The previous owner states ATF but from what i've found out so far, volvo issued  a service bulletin instructing owners to change to engine oil.

You are right. There is a VP service bulletin saying to change to engine oil.
