In mast furling mechanism

I have a problem with my in mast furling.  The previous owner has raised the main using a winch and put a huge amount of pressure on the mechanism.  As a consequence the sleeve that the sail is wound around has dropped and has begun to split at the base, it looks as if a pin about 75mm up has sheared and allowed the tube to drop.  Any ideas as to remedy the problem before the situation becomes even more serious.
