Does anybody know the internal mechanical differences between 120d and 120 e I know that they appear externally the same but I also know that the specified oil is different, so I guess that maybe the clutch arrangements are different. cheers Geoff

They do not appear the same externally, as the E has the new style rubber cylinder mount, while the D still has the old block design. The saildrive workshop manual has a "History" section at the top that describes the differences between the revisions. For the E it says:

  • Rubber mounting, new version
  • Shot blasted gear wheels
  • Fully synthetic oil

You can probably find the whole thing in the download section here, if not I'm happy to share it.

Indeed you cannot! Let me rectify this, perhaps with some help from Nigel (feel free to delete this attachment then) - cheers!

"Shot blasted gear wheels" will require different lubrication (protection)

I'm going to make an effort to upload a few of the attachments to the download page soon. You don't have the manual for the 130S by any chance?

Thanks Nigel. Sorry, no manual for the 130S - Volvo lists it as available in print only and asks 53 EUR for it (Part No 7742984).
