I cant remember the fuel consumption for a 2001 Bavaria 40 Ocean with what i remember to be an MD55 volvo penta.  I searched all over and for some odd reason cant find references to it so i must be getting something wrong.  I used to remember off the top of my head but shes heading down the coast without me and I want accurate number.  Thank you.

Totally dependent on speed and sea conditions.  I'd guess 4-7 litres/hour.

MD22 or D2-55 - you got those mixed up.

My MD22 eats around 3l/h at cruising rpm (~1800), perhaps a bit less (last time I did the figures I was heading for the boatyard with a bottom full of crud). It varies depending on boat weight, fouling, prop, etc. though, so only you can get an exact number for your boat.

My B42 with MD55 consistently drinks 2l/h at 2,000 RPM, 5 knots+ in calm water clean bottom. Max-prop feathering.

Correction; The engine is a 55 HP MD22 !! :sick

Thank you for all the replies.  @yngmar i did mix the engines up.  I believe the 2001 Bav 40 Ocean has an MD22 volvo penta which uses a perkins block.  How fast i forgot.

The earlier 40 Oceans came with the MD22, but later (2003, I think) models were fitted with the D2-55 as Volvo changed their model lineup. Both were Perkins blocks, but of a very different design.

My 2001 50hp MDL22 averages 2litres per hour through a range of speeds over time

Our D2-55 burns 3 lph at 1700-1800 RPM. In light-moderate seas and light airs, we usually motor-sail at 6 kts with our Bruntons Varifold 3-bladed folding prop.
