Does anyone have any davit or other method to pull the dinghy out of the water for cruising. I have a 2007 30 cruiser so the system can not be too elaborate. Presently have an arm off radar poll to raise the small motor. Thanks for any ideas

I haul my Portabote on deck with the staysail halyard, if that's what you mean. Then I usually fold it away, although it fits on the foredeck assembled too (bit difficult to access the anchor locker then though). Outboard is only a 2.5 HP fourstroke, so light enough to lift with one arm while holding on with the other. On a bigger boat I've sailed on they have a little outboard crane for the job.

There are several single arm cranes on the market but more suitable for outboards. Swinging a dinghy from the stern of a 30 is hardly practical due to lack of space. Inflating on the foredeck and using the Spinnaker halyard works OK. You can make up a pair of strops or a bridle to lift itlevel.

I have roll a furler where the halyards are not accessible.

There is usually a spinnaker halyard, or at least mousing for it in place. If you have a rodkicker, you can also take off the topping lift without consequence and use that.

Don't know how good they work but on paper look a good idea?

I have a paid the the Plastimo removable davits on the back of my boat. They work very well, and when not in use, they come off and store in the cockpit locker.
