Hi to all,
does anyone uses or knows a descent epresso machine (e.g. with capsules) with wattage <400 watt ? My inverter is only 400 watt (victron pure sine). On internet almost everything starts from 850watt

Bialetti Brikka! Trust me, we've been in Italy for two winters and a Covid-19 lockdown now and have become absolute coffee fiends. Unlike the regular mokka pot, the Brikka has a valve and brews a proper espresso at high pressure, crema and all.

Capsules are such horrifying plastic trash that any sailor should be ashamed to even consider them.  >:(

Looks great ! I have a moka machine already - but your suggestion looks superior ... I was thinking an espresso machine , thinking to put a dimmer on the heater element of it ?

The best coffee I have had outside of a small selection of coffee shops.

I have one for work and one for the boat.

Although I do use a 500 watt milk frother.....

There's low power solutions for that as well:

Italian solution (€5 from Sidis supermarket): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozOdksSrmXA
Greek solution (€3 from Jumbo in Kalamata): https://www.amazon.it/Bonsenkitchen-Montalatte-produzione-biscottate-inossidabile/dp/B07F35WLNB/

There's many versions of the latter and the €3 ones from Greek Jumbo are notably more powerful than the €2 Chinese ones ;-)

We've got both, but mostly prefer the Greek one, as it makes the milk foam in the mug instead of making one more dirty dish to wash.

On the boat I use only non electric solutions which were already mentioned:
For the coffee - a macchinetta such as the Bialetti. I also got as a present one of those pump based machines (pour in hot water, pump manually to produce pressure) which takes both capsules or ground coffee, but although the result is very good, it is a bit cumbersome for operation.
For the milk - a manual frother. I have one which I purchased in Italy but I found that a very good solution is also the Bodum type coffee press - they have a single cup size so with the same piece of equipment you can either make pressed coffee or froth milk.
