I have a Bav 41 with Volvo d2-55 engine.
I have just discovered the entire engine oil in the bilge under the motor.
The boat has been sitting idle for about 8 weeks.
It may be a corroded sump.
Never seen an oil leak before
We do get some rain water coming in.
Is this a known issue with these motors.
I will investigate further.
Appreciative any comments.

Pour some oil in and see where it comes out?

Some engines have a drain plug on the sump from their other life as car engines and that might've just come off.

Thanks - I am cleaning up the mess. I will check that. No sense in being pessimistic.
However, I am unable to see but it feels like sandpaper.

Does anyone have experience in removing and replacing the sump.

Hi. For all the oil to leak into the boat it must be a leak from below the sump gasket. My D2-55C is fitted with a drain pipe to facilitate oil extraction from the lowest point. There might be a leak were it connects to the sump. Ideally you need to measure how much oil leaked. The engine including the oil filter takes close to 10 litres.
