D2-55 collant plumbing assistance - where does this go.

Hi all
I recently R&R'd my D2-55 motor and I have this piece left over - see attached.
It appears to be a connector between the spiral reinforced PVC piping and the rubber piping.
There are two of these - I fitted one but cannot find where the other goes.
Would appreciate help.
