Bavaria 50 2007 rudder question

Hi to all ,
We just got this boat and we noticed before hauling out enormous gaps on the steering shaft. PO said it needs tightening the shaft bolt but I also noticed that it hasn't got the big white Teflon washer between upper part of the rudder and hull like our Bavaria 44 has. A nearby 46 Bavaria same era hasn't got the washer either .
Do you think that is unnecessary ?

Take a look at the "spare parts" section of the Jefa.com website.  You can find drawings of the rudder assembly.  It looks to me as if there isn't meant to be a washer installed.

I had a look , didn't see any washer . I was thinking if the Bavaria 44had one why not the 50 too
