Multi stage regulator playing havoc with ignition alarms

I am having all sorts of trouble installing a Balmar multi stage regulator in our Bav 36.

As soon as we switch on any significant load when the engine is running the alternator light and alarm activate on the ignition panel. I have heard that there is something a bit different with the way the Volvo ignition and alarm is wired. Any ideas?

Firstly, is the Balmar and alternator working properly i.e. is the multi-stage regulator working as expected?

What modifications did you make to the standard alternator/instrument panel wiring when you installed the Balmar?

I don't suppose you have any sort of wiring diagram of your connections you could post? It is difficult to diagnose this sort of problem without a bit more detail.
