Hi!
Luck was on my side today , while easing the tension on the back stay I noticed the upper cylindrical aluminium tube was popping out . The soft metal that locks the wire to a loop had been totally corroded and failed . The wire had looped miraculously and locked it self in place ...

Good that you found it. 1st I did after buying our Bav from 2007 among others: New rail and a professional check of the rig.

Yikes!  Lucky you caught that b/4 something nasty happened.  How difficult will it be to fix this?  I think mine is set up a bit differently.

I got it to a machinery place and put a new copper piece to be pressed . The mechanic said not to put thermoplastic because it keeps the moisture inside and hides any issues. The best thing to do was Yu put an eye pressed end but at the moment wasn't available
