Hi,

I have a 2010 Bavaria 32 Cruiser.

The Waeco chest fridge has been off for 9 months.

I started it, the fan is going but it's not cooling.

Initial/Occam's razor suggestions to fix it welcomed.

TIA and happy sailing,

Adam

I can suggest a quick fix as I have a very tiny leak in my fridge which necessitates annual topping up! If you use a clamp meter on the positive cable and switch on the power supply and you get a low reading eg 2amp then you have lost some refrigerant. You can either call in a professional to recharge it or buy a small R134A canister, attach a charge line, purge the line and attach it to the charge point on the compressor and introduce a little refrigerant at a time while monitoring the power load on the clamp meter. Once it re-starts with about 4amp you should be almost there and the evaporator should start cooling. Do the job slowly as only a little gas will be needed. VIP read instructions on refrigerant canister on which way to hold it, upright or inverted, as you mustn't introduce liquid refrigerant when recharging system!

Check all connections on compressor unit. Can be that due to moisture some connection fail.
