Hi,

I lost my helmspreson seat into the ocean accidentally several weeks ago.  A new one is on its way from Bavaria.
This one should have the latch that the previous one was missing.  Still, are there other things you do to secure your helmsperson's seat?

The two things I am thinking of:
1. Drill a hole in the flange and run some Dynema through the hole and onto a stern cleat, tied fast.
2. Gluing a block of styrofoam to the underside of the seat so that if it DOES go into the water, it won't sink like the last one did.

Thoughts?  Thanks!

Either of those would work.

BTW it is better to post these kind of questions on the Help section of the forum which gets the most traffic and where you will find similar questions asked in the past.

I drilled a hole in mine and put a piece of rope through it and tied the other end to the handle on the transom.

The previous owner of our boat fixed the seat with hinges at one side.

Fill the underside with expanding foam and trim it level with a bread knife. The seat will then float when the line breaks. 😉
