I need to extend the windlass power cabling.
It penetrates the forward bulkhead but the other side is paneled and not accessible.

Does it run in conduit?

How can I access the cables to extend?

Thanks.

Ours runs under the side paneling along the inside of the starboard topsides.  Had to take the side shelf out in the process.

Sometimes the most difficult way is the best way. If your windlass power cables need extending, I would pull new cables by attaching the new cable to the current one with famous ducttape and pull back carefully the old cable, feeding the new one, and thus install a new one entirely to the connectors near the switchboard. In that way you avoid corrosion and bad connection in the high current power supply and do you make sure your boat does not start to become a DIY ship... but that's my thought..

Thanks

Does anyone know if the power cables are installed in conduit.

Also in my boat the cables pass through the center of the forward bulkhead which is lined on the interior with a vinyl panel.

Is it possible to remove those panels.

Also I note Karma's response. My boat has timber lockers on both sides of the forward cabin. It is possible to get access behind that woodwork.

They're not usually installed in conduit because that would downrate them and they'd need to be even bigger then. Ours were not either.
