Bavaria 38

Im looking to buy a Bavaria holiday 38 year 2000 is there anything I should look out for the emergency tiller seems to stick out of the floor with no cover is this normal.

I have a Bav. 38 (2004) The top of the rudder stock where the emergency handle can be attached on my boat is under a 12 or 15mm thick square plastic (polyethylene?) cover with a circular inspection lid over the rudder stock.
