Title: Where to find the Serial, HIN number
Post by: chr_henriksen_dk on March 21 2016, 14:23
Hello...
I was out looking at an older Bavaria 30 from 1988.  But I seems I can't locate the hull number.
Do anyone know where its usually located or even better exactly where to look?

Thanks...

Hi. We have a 1990 Bavaria 38 Lagoon.
There is an ID number embossed in the upper right hand corner of the transom, viewed from behind the boat.
I think that must be it...........................Bill

On the Bavaria 47 (2000) the HIN is just ahead of the transom on the starboard side. Quite hard to spot.

There may not be a hull number in the standardised HIN form as that did not become compulsory until 1998, although some builders used it earlier. As already suggested it will be moulded in the upper transom on the starboard side. The identification on an older boat is of very little practical use, so no need to worry if you can't find it.
