Title: Bavaria 41 Volvo Penta D2-55A Thread for pressure and water temp monitor/sensor
Post by: Sen Mora on November 05 2016, 16:54
I wonder if any one knows if the threads in the engine block are NPT or BSP. I had to rebuild the engine cockpit control panel and also added a new (not Volvo) gauges for oil pressure and water temperature. Many thanks.

The thread could also be metric fine. Suggest you ask Volvo Penta.

I believe BSP. I added two VDO 52mm gauges to my console. Water temp was straight forward. Wire in as per diagram and used the existing water alarm sensor for both functions. Oil pressure requires replacement of the sender unit from a single contact to a dual type. Marine and automotive are the same. I suggest 0-5bar (0-70psi) so the needle will be in the middle of the scale when in use. Raph.

Thank you Raph.
As for asking directly Volvo Penta, from what I could find VP tells you to ask local dealer. In my case I got an off the cuff uncofirmed reply.
