Title: Anode on 2004 Bavaria 32
Post by: Fenders on January 03 2017, 20:09
Happy New Year

My Bavaria 32 is now ashore for antifouling and change of anode.
I removed the cone and prop from the saildrive to gain access to the anode which is in front of the rope cutter.
I removed the anode and went to my local chandlers. They have anodes that fit my saildrive but they only have 2 holes. Mine has 3. 2 for the bolts and a 3rd so that a pin for the rope cutter slots into to prevent the cutter from spinning on the prop shaft.
I am guessing that the ones in the chandlers are for saildrive without rope cutters.

I have trawled the WWW with no luck. I have also looked at McDuff's but nothing even similar to mine.
So, does anybody know where I can find a new zinc anode for my Bavaria 32 that has a rope cutter?

Is your rope cutter a stripper? If so you can get the anode from here

Or for half that price from http://www.zincsmart.com/ - just bought two myself. It's a small company - best ordered by phone. Ask for the rope cutter machining and he'll drill a precise hole for you (don't try this yourself with hand tools - I tried and the drill bit wandered every which way in the soft zinc). If you have a drill press, you can do it yourself.

Thanks chaps.
Very useful information.

Since posting I have found the correct anode at www.solentanodes.co.uk

Thanks again
