On the binnacle of my 2004 Bavaria 32 there is an inspection hatch. The colour has deteriorated with age and is now a grimey grey.
I would like to fit a new one but the ones I have found do not correspond with my dimensions.
Some are metric and a few are imperial.
The diameter of mine is 175mm, but the chandlers only have 140mm or 185mm.
The dimensions of the ones I have found online are ambiguous.
Has anyone managed to find the correct inspection cover?
Had the same issue with aged cover but I was able to buy a correctly sized replacement from Force4 without any problems - B37 2006. I'll check the dimensions.
I don't wish to sound ignorant but was is a binnacle inspection hatch . Do I have one on a 2007 30 ?

On the starboard side of my binnacle underneath the throttle lever there is a removable circular plate. Mine is approx 175mm diameter but there are other sizes. This provides access to the underside of the binnacle for maintenance reasons.
I also have an identical one which is located underneath the transom seat and covers the access for the emergency tiller.
I am not sure if they are fitted on newer models as they may be of a different styling.

That will be a great help. Thank you very much
Hi
Look like pictures below ?
I was looking for long time suitable hatch.
Typically all available hatches what I found were with coils.
Like pic 1.
Not optimal solution when you are replacing pedestal hatch.
Side wall of pedestal in not straight.
Picture 2.
Bavaria original hatch.
There is 4 "claws" which lock the hatch.
Better solution to curved walls.
If needed I have some pcs original hatch available.
I also replaced the original Lewmar with a generic threaded type - no problems (B36, 2004)
Thanks for all your replies.
I tried a couple I found in Marine Super Store. They were metric and didn't fit.
So I tried Force 4. They had 5" generic hatches and they are a good fit and I have just installed them.
One on the binnacle I have sealed into place before screwing just to make it water tight.
The other is for overhead the emergency steering.
Heaps better than the old grey ones.
If anyone needs to change theirs here are the details:
Force 4 Chandlery
Code 851016
Hatch inspection 5"
Manufacturer: C.QUIP Code CQ10-17550
I have mislaid the receipt but I think they were about £6 each.
