Title: Electrical panel warning light
Post by: ejessen on July 13 2017, 07:40
On my 2001 Bavaria 40 AC, this warning light came on today - see attachment.

Any idea what that means?

Do not know this panel, but the icon next to it may indicate voltage drop of the battery - does it turn of if you charge the battery?

It's fairly easy to follow the wire for that light. I have the same panel, but the light isn't wired to anything, probably due to the shorepower charger having been upgraded in the past. Also the panel has support for two different charger systems from production, so it may be wired differently on different boats. Checking yourself is the best and easiest way to find out.

I have a different panel but the same light - it comes on when the battery drops below 10.5v (or might be 10.0v). I noticed it was on when I was in the process of buying the boat and discovered (before purchase!) that the batteries were both completely duff (the leisure batteries, not the starter). Check the voltages of the batteries with a voltmeter, it may be that one of them has failed and is pulling the other one down.

On my Ocean 38 (2000) it comes on when the mains charger is in 'charge' mode before it switches to 'float' mode. This happens just after you connect shorepower then goes off once the batteries are all charged.
