Not sure where best to post this, however just wanted to let people know. Last Year while at anchor in a bay our Quick shore power battery charger (I think original fitting) caught fire at 3am. Fire started inside the unit. This was our first outing in the boat - needless to say fitting of smoke detectors was raised immediately up the priority list. I am surprised these aren't fitted as standard.
I also wondered why these aren't fitted. In my last boat (an old Verl 900) I had one with a piece of coax stripped back a couple of inches one end, wired across the smoke alarm test button and into the bilge. This then also acted as a bilge alarm
Agree!!! Smoke, Co2 and gas alarms should be standard on boats.
Ant.
I'll bet it was your spellchecker Ant wot dunnit, but I'd leave the 2 out and go for CO (carbon monoxide) alarm !!
