Title: Tank cleaning
Post by: claus on November 05 2012, 05:00
Anybody has experience with cleaning tank on Bavaria cruiser (37ft 2007) by opening and getting acces through the gauge sensor hole. How big an opening should I expect and what kind of sealant to use for resealing. I suspect to suck or clean out stuff from below the intake tube.

The opening is the size of the plate - probably about 80mm dia. No sealant, the plate has a thick rubber gasket.

Just about to do this on my B32 but having a problem removing the float mechanism though the hole. seem to be jamming about 4 inches down, just where there is a swivel ( presumably going to the float).
Any advise how to remove?

OK I gave up on access through the float switch hole. Thanks to another item on this site, I removed the pick up the Eberpacher pick up fitting and wiggled it around and hey presto I'm in.
Syphoned out a bit of fuel  from the very  bottom of the  tank and got less than a cupful of water and grot.
So peace of mind; however as is my situation everytime I work with tubes and diesel, I  manage to make a mess.
Pass me the Mr  Muscle and some paper towel!
