Title: Bavaria 32 2002 taps
Post by: filban on June 22 2019, 12:24
the galley mixer tap and combined shower/tap in the heads are pitted and I am thinking of replacing them although they work perfectly well

Force 4 and eBay offer what seems to be suitable replacements although not all measurements are given to check v the existing

has anyone had any experience of changing the taps on a bavaria and what did you use?

SVB do not appear to keep taps for the older yachts

thanks

I changed ours with what Lidl had on sale at the time. They're still good after a couple years. There's nothing marine specific about these units. They had standard fittings, which you can look up on every plumbing related website/youtube channel. If you look under the sinks you'll find the tails for them, with adapters to the Whale Quickconnect plumbing of the boat.

As yngmar said, the taps are all straightforward domestic units.  I replaced the galley and aft head taps 10 years ago with the cheapest that B&Q stocked.  They're still working just fine and we lived on board full time for 6 years.  Pain to do the changeover as there's next to no space to get to the underside of the taps but apart from that it was a simple job.

thanks very much for your helpful replies

I will avoid the "marine" premium priced taps!

Just pay attention for one thing - length of the head.
I also bought something at the hardware store and it is long by several millimeters so gets hit a bit when opening the cabinet door above the sink - no big problem, but can be avoided if you pay attention  to this when selecting the new unit.

If you are looking for identical replacements I have always found Penguin Engineering, Hayling Island have a very extensive stock. They also stock the plastic caps for the transom shower fittings.
Very helpful service.

No connection, just a satisfied customer.
