Title: sail drive on B42
Post by: tckearney on May 24 2020, 11:55
Quick question Im not at the boat and have no documentation with me.  Can anybody advise if my sail drive is 120 or 130 on a B42 2000 model.  I need to order some bits in advance of a visit.  Its the 55hp engine.  Thanks

If it is original it will be a 120. 130 did not come in until 2006. Simple identification is that the 120 has a one piece anode and the 130 a 2 piece. Note that there are different variations on the 120 but are mainly in the reduction box and internals, but service parts like anodes, drain plug, lower seals, gaskets are all the same.

I have a 2005 Bavaria 42 Cruiser and a 130S-A sail drive was installed and it is the original.
That means that the 130 did come before 2006

B40 2001 has an original 120S (with MD22L-B, should be the same 55hp you have ) so most likely Yours will be that one as well.

I've purchased a couple of these over the past couple years.  The 120S has a 2" oil/lubricant fill cap on top center with a dipstick behind it whereas the 130 has a small 3/4 inch combo dipstick and fill only.
