Title: QL Calorifier Manifold
Post by: lawrence_craig on May 31 2020, 12:19
Hi all,

I have a QL calorifier on my Bav46 2007.

As you can see by the pictures, there is corrosion on my hot water outlet manifold. Does anyone know where I could source a replacement manifold or have any suggestions?

Many thanks.

Don't think that is anything to worry about. The fitting is brass and what you see is common verdegris and salt deposits caused by dampness. Not corrosion as such that will affect the integrity of the fitting, just unsightly and can be cleaned off.

Sorry, I should have stated that it is leaking from this joint.

Do you think it just needs tightening or reseating?

Take apart, clean up, reseal with sealant and it'll be fine. It's just a T-piece and a Pressure relief valve (that one needed replacing on ours as the whole mechanism was corroded and seized up beyond repair). Standard plumbing supplies, although make sure you get the right pressure rating on the PRV.

Just double check where it is leaking. The white plastic joiners, particularly the one from the Hot Water can go brittle and leak very easily. They are easy to replace.
