Title: Pink stuff
Post by: Pan054 on July 29 2013, 06:27
In Ken Johnson's Winterizing the yacht contribution (http://www.bavariayachtowners.org/page17/page60/page38/page38.html), he talks about 'pink stuff'.  Does anybody know what that is?
Cheers

"Pink stuff" is propylene glycol based antifreeze for water systems. It is non toxic. It can be used to winterize most systems on board including engine raw water BUT NOT the internal engine cooling system.

You are talking of a differant antifreeze, the mercedes one I am talking about has been used for over 20 years and can be used in  raw water cooling, the reason I said pink was to point put that more and better aditives are added to make the product last longer in use. it is sold in all good automotive outlets. I think you are talking about the fresh water system antfreeze for tanks and pipes ect. This may confuse people, sorry to come back on this but maybe more information will help people.

The OP referenced Ken Johnson's article, which describes how to winterize the fresh water system not the engine. So in this case, the pink stuff is PG.
