Title: Anyone know what these holes are for
Post by: Petef on July 10 2022, 20:21
Anyone know what these holes are for in the back of our B34 2008 cockpit?

They dont go through and are about 10mm in diameter

We have a cockpit tent and the poles are on the lip of the deck towards the rear. It does not have anything that might use those holes.

Was that model of Bavaria ever offered from new with a tiller instead of wheel steering..??
They look like the hardpoints for a tillerpilot.....Although they may be positioned a little too far astern, but maybe not if the B34 was fitted with a transom hung rudder on pintles..

No I don't believe it ever had a tiller as the stern folds down to form a bathing platform. Originally by electric motor but both arms are broken and the switch has been removed.

Indeed, the bathing platform would get in the way.........

Just a guess, but maybe to attach some kind of bench/seat behind the steering wheel?

Yes I thought that too, but looking online the bench seats appear to be moulded at the edges and have clip to secure them. https://www.svb24.com/en/category/bavaria-deck-helmsman-seats.html (https://www.svb24.com/en/category/bavaria-deck-helmsman-seats.html)

True, but I believe they are not used for models with adjustable swimming platform as yours?
