Hi
Need a new continuous furling line and not sure re the art of making the end to end splice. Have made a looped splice if that's the correct term in dynema and managed that but this one looks a bit more difficult. I can buy a looped line made up but how do I get it through the rope clutches under the sprayhood, it needs to go through 2 of them.
Thanks
It's not difficult: https://support.seldenmast.com/files/1539154449/595-673.pdf
Cover only, with stitches to secure. Furling loads are light.
As Yngmar mentioned, easy to splice, but impossible to get to the clutches:-)
Very easy, as long as you buy new braid-on-braid rope! I did mine a couple of weeks ago, following Selden's instructions and using 10mm rope. Thread the rope through the furling gear, any turning blocks, and then the clutches so that you have the two ends in the cockpit. Then splice it in situ.
Excellent thanks will give it a go, thanks for all the info diagrams....will save myself a few quid too ;-)

Doing it yourself gives you a lot of satisfaction too.

I don't know about satisfaction, but I got a sense of relief when the splice worked first time!

That as well :)
I find it even more satisfying watching some one else doing it for me but it looks like I will have to give it a go!
You can probably take the clutches apart for inserting the spliced rope. I did it once.

Most clutches won't allow that.
The original Rutgerson RC750 clutches specifically do allow being slid off their base, thus freeing the rope. Spinlock ones don't, it needs to be threaded through before splicing.
