Dear all,
I intend to install a Philippi BLS Monitor & Shunt 300 to my service battery in my 6y old Bavaria 37 Cruiser. Today, I was puzzled by the wiring of the additional bow thruster battery. That seems to be connected directly to the bank of three service batteries. In the attached image I have marked the 2 ca les going to the bow thruster battery (BTB) with da dashed yellow line and those cables that go to the main service panel with dashed green lines.
Could anyone confirm this layout?
It would than mean, that the shunt (to be installed) covers this whole system (3 service batteries plus 1 bt battery)....
Thanx for any help!
That's not a good way to connect a bow thruster battery! It effectively means you have 4 batteries in your service bank, and the thruster draws current from all of them.
AS tiger79 mentioned this wiring doesn't make Sense. As i bought my B46, the PO charged the BTBattery via the batterycharger from the Mains, which has 3 batteryoutputs(1x Start, 1x House, 1x BTBatt). Additionally there was a diodesplitter With 3 Outputs for charging all baateries from Alternator.
Thank you for your response! This is the first time that I actually deal with the electric layout of our boat. I never question the original Bavaria installation (I know - noob thing).
However, the battery charger definitely only charges 2 "batteries": i.e. the starter battery and the bank of now 4 batteries (3 service PLUS bow thruster). I'll probably have to get an electrician to change that.

Bavaria wouldn't install the bow thruster like that; it's been fitted after the boat left the factory.
