Title: Washing machine
Post by: Cabtrack on October 23 2023, 10:06
I have added a 3kg washing machine to the Bavaria 33 cruiser. My partner thinks its great, its the only way you can get away buying your partner or wife a washing machine for a present. What a top bloke.

At risk of asking the obvious.....
Where does the water/power come from....??
I'm guessing the only feasible answer is marina shore power and marina standpipes...
If so... Why not just use the marina laundry..??
Or am I missing the obvious...??

It is on our bucket list. Where did you mount it? Which make?

Hi JEN-et-ROSS It runs off the inverter, we have a water maker. Its only 100watts on cold wash works a treat.

Well done, although 100w @ 12v equates to over 8 amps and a watermaker will average 4w/litre (had to google that one..!!)....
But I can see with decent wind/solar array, and/or running the engine I can see that it's quite feasible......

Not every boat returns to a marina every night  :kewl

Our portable little washing machine (also 110W) which we kept in the starboard lazarette was definitely one of the biggest improvements we made to our boating freedom (along with anchoring gear, solar power and watermaker). Could stay at anchor all summer with occasional dinghy trips to get food :)

It is a Seawater Pro 12VDC motor draws about 50amps and delivers 70 litres an hour works a treat.
