Title: Bavaria 32 and Volvo2020D water pump
Post by: Richard on October 10 2013, 12:20
Has any body removed the water pump on a Bavaria 32? I believe I will require to remove the engine mounting to get at two of the bolts but before I do so it would be nice if somebody who may have done it can advise.

Are you talking about the raw sea water pump?  If so when mines was changed on my 2020 albeit on a B34, it was all done (by engineer) from front of engine compartment, no need to touch engine mounts.  I think it was just four bolts to be removed.  One was rusted hard so needed to be drilled out.
Our problem arose at end of a weekend before I was planning to take friends out the following weekend so had to get it done during week sharpish hence engineer.

It is one of the screws at the back which is difficult to access and may be easier with the mount removed.

Thanks all, I have managed to dismount the sea water pump. I had to remove the engine mount but this was more simple than I initially thought. Now all I need to do is to refurbish the unit.

Just removed my pump to replace the front seal. yes you do have to remove the bracket for the throttle / stop cables but only one of the  bolts is really awkward ( one flat at a time).
At  home I discover that it would have been possible to replace to front seal with the  pump in situ.
By removing the impeller and inserting  self tappers and  pulling , or careful use of a small screwdriver the seal can be pulled out.
Replacement  seal pushed in and  tapped home using a suitable sized socket.
Just  got to replace the  awkward bolt , although I will clean up the thread firs  to make is finger tightenable as  far as possible.
