Title: Removing galley worktop
Post by: JazzyB on November 20 2023, 20:21
Does anyone know how to remove the worktop in the galley? I've got a 31 Cruiser (2008).

It looks like it's partly secured by the L shaped wooden edging rail but I assume that it's also glued. I want to re-design the whole galley area with new fittings and remove the existing basin & fridge.

Thanks

Hi Jazzy,

I have a similar question but for a different reason. I recently had a collision with another vessel and need to replace the galley top!

Taking the sink out is easy - was in my case. Held in place on the underside by some rusty clamps  which thankfully unscrewed. I am thinking to overlay the laminate (formica) with acrylic (Corian) sheet - 8mm or so. It should fit neatly inside the fiddles and also hide the surgery to squeeze in a Force 10 sub compact cooker and provide double insulated lid to the fridge

Solved the issue.
1. remove the shelf behind the counter top
2. remove the microwave cabinet and hanging lockers
3. this reveals all of the screws which hold the counter top down
4. It is in 2 parts on the 40 Cruiser and is held in with some glue.
5. lift the counter top out!
