Title: Change anchor light bulb
Post by: Ailatan on January 08 2024, 09:23
All my navigation and interior lights are led with the exception of the anchor light.
Now I want to replace this anchor light but I would like to do it in one go.
Does anyone know what type of light bulb I need to buy? I understand that all the Bavaria's of the 2000s and larger than 40 feet used the same light

Or at the same time while you are up there - upgrade to tricolour - anchor light combo

This is my mid-term plan if changing from archipelagic sailing to more offshore-oriented sailing.

Thanks both for the advice.

The dusk and down sensor is a good extra because it won't be the first time I've forgotten to switch the light off at down.

Tommi, regarding the tricolour option, do you know if changing the current anchor light for the tricolour option is easy or I will need to drill new holes?

Ailatan,

I have not installed one myself, but based on my YT "research" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C9BhxqwR7Y (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C9BhxqwR7Y) it should be pretty much a plug-and-play solution - the only thing you need aloft is an extra screwdriver to adjust / ensure correct sector alignment.

Thanks for the video. Now I got it. First time I thought it was a complete fixture, but now I see it's a very smart light bulb

Tommi,

We have installed the Tricombo but unfortunately it completely disturbs our AIS signal. So please don't be surprised if you are suddenly alone on the ocean if you switch it on.

Thanks Joe for this info... need to think again or consider installing additional AIS antenna off masthead wiring route.
