My original muffler 46mm leaked. I remember you saying that some of you had Vetus plastic put in and were satisfied. Which model would you recommend?

WLOCKLR 45mm. The one showing as LP in the SVB catalogue as LP which is the "family" name for that type but is actually the model for 30mm. JUst make sure you order the 45mm option. Also worth considering having the Volvo one repaired if it has corroded around the outlet. I had mine plated with stainless for around£50.
Maybe a stupid question, but where is this thing located? Could it be that it is underneath the fuel tank on my 40?
Usually in the port aft cabin beneath the bed . Follow your exhaust hose starting from the engine
Depends on the engine and the rear cabin layout. The MD22 exhaust is on the starboard side and the D2 is on the port side. As suggested follow the exhaust hose and the muffler is under the bunk alongside the tank. You can't miss it!
