Title: Rev counter working intermittently

My rev counter only works some times I have tried checking the connections can someone tell me what wires I should be checking  or could it be something else

I believe that terminal W on the alternator is the sensing terminal for the  rev-counter,  worth checking and cleaning.

I have noted many Volvo engine hour meters not running at all; replacement is hideously expensive but for less than AU$20 inc postage can get quality functioning waterproof hour meter from Hong Kong. Just attach across ignition circuit... in my case just used the fuel meter circuit which also turns on when ignition turned on.
