Title: Fuel gauge failure.
Post by: GeorgeH on November 03 2024, 21:43
My 2013 Bavaria 33 has a Volvo d1-20. The fuel gauge stopped working with no reading showing. The gauge, sender and wiring loom have been replaced. Still no reading. Any suggestions as to what it might be please.

I know it might sound a bit obvious, but I take it you've confirmed it's getting power..?

Is there fuel in the tank?

Even when it's working, the fuel gauge is very inaccurate, so I wouldn't worry too much.  You can estimate fuel usage from hours run.

Our fuel gage recently died. A wire on the gauge / sensor that is immersed in the diesel broke. I had to re-solder the wire and now the fuel gauge is working again. Anyhow, when our fuel gauge was 'broken' it showed the diesel tank as full all the time. So if your gauge shows nothing i would suspect there i no electricity going to the sensor?
