Title: Bleeding the fuel system
Post by: John G on November 02 2025, 15:18
Bavaria 30 cruiser . Volvo D1-20 . I have replaced the fuel filter and primary fuel filter but am unable to bleed the system, only air coming out bleed screw after pumping for at least 30 minutes. Any help gratefully received.

Assuming there is sufficient fuel in the tank and shut off valve is open.. most logic would be the supply line to be blocked by sludge which is formed by water in the fuel. After a period of non sailing, it will settle in the tank and may block the supply line. Disconnecting at the water separator and blow it through to check. (If this is the case you will also need to clean the fuel tank...) Did you fit the right filters and fit them in the right way? Just done mine on D2-55f and took me about 30 pumps and not 30 minutes to de-airate...
