Title: fual tank grommets
Post by: Heinsius on June 24 2026, 11:26
Hello,

I own a Bavaria 37 Cruiser (3-cabin version) from 2006. Recently I filled the fuel tank completely with GTL diesel, and for the first time I discovered that the fuel tank fittings are leaking. Normally I never fill the tank to its maximum capacity, so this problem had never become apparent before.
While searching for information, I came across an old forum post so the problem is none? I am hoping someone could give me some advice.
I have read about the fuel tank grommets used on these tanks, but I am unsure how the fittings are constructed, especially the pickup tube that extends to the bottom of the tank.
My questions are:
1.    Do you know how these fuel outlet fittings are assembled, including the tube that goes to the bottom of the tank?
2.    If I remove the old, hardened grommets, is there a risk that the pickup tube will fall into the tank?
3.    Which replacement parts did you use, and where can they be purchased?
Any information or advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated. It would help me a great deal in finding the best repair solution.
Thank you very much for your time.
Kind regards,
Hans Heinsius, Port Zelande, Holland

Hi Hans, welcome to this forum! You can check the page of svb24.com if still original parts for your fuel tank are available.. this is the dedicated site for Bavaria parts. It is a known problem with GTL that rubber is shrinking and causing leakages. If no spares are available anymore, you may need to look into replacement/ modification.
