Title: Stemhead - rust marks behind
Post by: suibhne on January 27 2015, 22:08
I have a Bavaria 36 (2003)
There are rust stains coming from behind stainless steel stemhead.
They run down the bow and are unsightly if not polished away.
Any explanations?
Better still any cure?

Hmmn, same boat (2002) and same problem, don't know why. It is however a fairly recent occurrence, and I have had the bow roller off in order to strengthen it. Longer bolts were needed to resecure it in place. The rust stains have appeared since the work was done, but so far have not been a problem.

Get yourself some "Spotless Stainless".

It'll get rid of the rust and coat the stainless so it doesn't rust any more.

You can also use it on standing rigging (bottle screws etc.), blocks, and basically all the bits of ss on the boat.
