Title: Rear bumper strip on a B49 in UK
Post by: zz000mm on February 19 2015, 19:53
Hi all.

I have a B49 on the south coast, UK.

I am looking to replace the rear rubber bumper strip.

Apparently the strip is now only available in lengths of 2.5 metres from Clipper Marine, the Bavaria spares chaps in the UK.

The bumper strip on a B49 is just over 2.5 metres long, fractionally. If I install a 2.5 metre strip, there will be small gaps at either end there the bumper strip meets the timber edging.

I can get two strips and have a join at the lowest point on the bumper strip, which can be hidden by the stainless steel fixing bracket or I can get a longer bumper strip from somewhere else.

Does anyone know a likely UK supplier for a longer item?

Kind regards.

What's the matter with it then? Why does it need replacing?

There were a couple of grazes here and there and it is probably the original item from 2003.

Was all acceptable until a visiting French yacht clipped the rear of mine while in the marina and dislodged it. I was on the end of the pontoon, great view, but ended up moving off the end because its just to vulnerable.

All good fun.

Ok. I was going to say that if it's just manky (grey and horrid) as mine was, you can clean then with upvc solvent.

Why not ask a few boat builders? I'm sure it's a pretty standard extrusion.
