Title: Replacing fuel gauge
Post by: skipper on March 25 2015, 22:26
2002 Bavaria 44. Fuel gauge in poor condition so I want to replace it. I have checked various sites such as Volspec & Keypart, but it appears that the gauge is a standard 52mm vdo unit available from many outlets online and ebay. Can anyone tell me the right one/type please?
I need to get a replacement before I destroy the old one taking it out. The body has rusted and jammed itself into the hole so it looks like a hammer and chisel job.
I have tried to post an image but I cannot understand the instructions.

Thank you,

Michael.

If you look on the online VDO catalogue you will find good illustrations and specs of their range of instruments.

Note that there are different types, sender resistance and polarity. It should tell you the resistance of the sender at the bottom of the instrument scale.

I replaced mine last year for the same reason (even though it still works) and the only supplier I could find for these is Bavaria as they are specifically manufactured to match the fuel tank sender. Either change both or go to a Bavaria agent. Cost is about £57
