Yesterday I withdrew the Airmar through hull sensor to clean the paddle wheel and upon replacing it the speed/log temperature display failed. I just got 3 dashes and -5 degrees sea temperature (actual temp is 27 deg true) The depth function is working properly. I checked the connections at the back of the instrument and they are fine. Can anyone help please?

You're right Yngmar, it must be a problem with the cable and as you suggest small gauge it's somewhere at the end. I moved the cable to a different position and the display returns to normal. I doubt if it will be possible to somehow replace cable. I will not disturb it till it's haul out time. There are about 6 different wire connections so the cable must be very small gauge.

Either cable or moisture in the top of the sensor. Try spraying some CRC or WD-40 down next to the cable. I have found that the SeaTalk system sometimes needs to be "dried out". unplug the seatalk cable from the back of the instrument and give it a bit of a spray on the terminals and reconnect.
