List to starboard

My boat ocean 47 has a list to starboard. Is there a way to correct this? A friend who previously owned a Bavaria from new told me all Bavaria yachts list. Is this true?. On the starboard side I  have the batteries but this was compensated by 90 m of 10 mm chain in port side saloon bilge. Also only using port side water and fuel tanks had no effect to correct the list. Looks like I will have to live with this?

If your boat lists to starboard, you need to add more port wine.  :))

😂 I think no boat is perfectly balanced and always will list a bit. Especially with wide hulls like the Bavaria's, it will give a lot of space but very sensitive to weight distribution. Water and fuel are most of the times balanced in quantities, as you mention batteries are making the difference... you need to put them somewhere...

We have (2) 8D AGM batteries and a group 24 AGM on the Starboard side.  The port side has a couple of lead blocks for compensation, although I don't know their actual weight.  Obviously, not ideal to be adding non-essential weight to the boat but it keeps us on an "even keel." We bought the boat used and it was this way at the time.  I don't know if this is usual, but it makes sense not to be running parallel battery cables from both sides of the boat just to create balance in that manner.

Anyway, you could consider 'dead' weight such as this.

I just wonder how much weight  I would need. 90 m of 10 mm chain in the port bilge had no effect to correct the list. Perhaps I would need to place any counter weight  nearer the water line?

I wasn't quite joking about the port wine. Ours was listing to starboard as well due to a large battery upgrade under the starboard settee. But we put the food in the portside settee and the canned food in the portside bilge under the galley floor and that balanced it out.

The port wine went in the central bilge to keep cooler ;-)

Mine's listing to port (no wine).
Also towards the stern...too much crap in the lockers.

I was really worried about it until I found this forum and read that it's perfectly normal.
Our boats are so perfectly imperfect :-)
