Hi all good to be back ,the title says it all . My Seiwa barracuda gps plotter has reverted to 2005 date, this makes the tidal data rubbish. I was told that a new back up memory battery may fix it ,but no. It now appears to be a software issue . Anybody know if it can be updated? Geoff

I had the same problem with a 2006 navman.  It's some sort of rollover date issue with the internal GPS.  I solved it with an external NMEA GPS from JGTech for about 50 quid.  As long as your plotter has the option for input from an external GPS via NMEA this should work.  Also, the tech has evolved over the last 20 years so  the external GPS finds position faster and is more accurate. Probably uses less power too.

How is your plotter getting GPS at the moment?  Also, you might already have another source of external GPS (eg DSC VHF) that can output NMEA in which case it's just a wiring up job.

Thanks Sunshine, I was told that it was something like that, at the moment I am looking at getting what you suggest ,but in my case I am told that the antenna module IS the gps . I will report back when I get it. Geoff

I said JGTech, but it was actually NMEAshop.  Price now reduced to 42 quid.
