Shore power battery charging

Bavaria 30 (2005) - a REAL newbie question, I think - but if the two electrical black breakers are off AND all the breakers on Panel 302 are in the off position, when connected to shore power does the smart battery charger still keep the battery charged?

Any help gratefully received!

Thank you, Tiger. So if I WANTED the batteries to charge, I'd need the main power breaker on panel 302 on, (the one on the left of the board) I presume.

Thanks, IslandAlchemy. Good practice/bad practice to leave it on when absent from the boat for extended weeks? I have a galvanic isolator fitted, and the charger is the original Bavaria Smartcharger.

A follow-up - looking at this circuit diagram, it would appear that the shore power supply goes direct to the charger and the batteries before the isolator switches - https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5463/9525167586_07798f548d_b.jpg - or am I missing something?

Family problems have kept me from the boat for a couple of months - I've left the shore power connected but the two isolator switches and the switches o the panels off. Does the above diagram suggest I shouldn't worry?

On my Bav 30 I believe that I have to leave the main RCD on to keep the charger live.  I turn off and remove both isolators though.  Unfortunately means that the 240V sockets are live as well.

Easy enough to check when you are on the boat with the LEDs on he charger.

Good point, Mark: thank you. I managed to ruin both batteries last season when problems kept me away from the boat over the winter, so I'm anxious not to make the same mistake!

Thanks, Nigel - is there a "not" missing somewhere???! Looking back at the wiring diagram I posted, I THINK that where it says "Distributor 230V" this will be Panel 302, confirming what Mark_C says about being able to remove the isolator keys but keeping the RCD switch on panel 302 in the On position. I'm hoping to pop up to Freebird tomorrow to do just that (and to look in at Bavaria Fest in Largs on Saturday!)

Might be issue already resolve or no issue at all...
But.

Charger is behind the circuit breaker (5) "kitchen"
If you want to charger is on.

As well (3) and (5) have to be on position.

(3) Residual current circuit breaker FI /
B16

Thank you, Baltic - that is very helpful. I don't think I'd have noticed that the K breaker needed to be on too! (It seems rather an odd design to me when the charger is already protected by the main circuit breaker, but still!)
