New binnacle

The binnacles on Bavarias appear to be 2 piece grp units.

The binnacle top on my 2004 B34 is not in the best condition and the facia has had so many holes drilled in it by the previous owner it resembles a sieve.
I am in the process of upgrading my instruments and thought that this will be a good opportunity to tidy up the binnacle.
I have a short list of plotters that may fit with the space I will have available, but wondered that if I was to fit a larger binnacle top as can be found on newer boats, then I could go for a larger plotter.

Does anyone know if the newer binnacle tops would fit the old bases?
Secondly, has anyone achieved this?
Lastly, are new binnacle tops easy to get hold of?

At this stage I haven't spoken to Clipper or SVB yet.

Thanks

I didn't replace the binnacle top, but I did replace the fascia, see photo below. All the holes drilled previously in mine had been in way of the black or grey plastic instrument panel originally fitted which was given the elbow, and I made a new one from a sheet of half inch ply. It's not the prettiest fascia, but it's vastly better than what was there before.
Ps. Sorry if the photos appear upside down, don't know why that happens, but they start off the right way up, turn upside down in the posting, but come out the right way up when I open them on my iPad. Maybe there's some Southern Hemisphere software in there somewhere !!

Replacing the panel is easy - either ply as salty or tinted polycarbonate.

Not sure the binnacle bottoms are interchangeable between models. They look basically the same, but  suspect that they are dimensionally different.

Thanks for the fotos. You have done a lovely job.

I just wondered if the binnacle top could be replaced. If not I shall make a new facia for the installation of instruments. At least it will be tidier than my current setup.

Symphony.

I think you may be right regarding dimensions. I could be causing more problems than I solve.
