Money now sent. Thanks for all your efforts, they are very much appreciated.

Perhaps, according to the numbers enrolled it could be a small fixed fee every year so we all know where we stand?

MarkTheBike

Sorted...

n.b. I see Geoff's point but Nigel set it up to be not fee-based, unlike the BOA, and I personally would prefer it if Yngmar just dropped a note like this when needed. I'm always happy to stump up and I'm sure there are MANY others on here who would do the same... I can't see it ever being a problem (providing Yngmar tells us when there's enough in the pot for the time being...  ;D).

Anyone else have a view?

p.s many thanks, Yngmar, for all the work - everyone appreciates it. Needless to say, I forgot to mark Paypal with BavariaYacht so mine's the one without! Oops.

Thanks Yngmar, happy to and will do at weekend when I home.

a donation now solves the issue for the now, but at some point this issue will come back around again.

id be happy with a adhoc donation as and when or even a small annual amount to cover keeping this forum up.

This is a really good forum and thanks to Yngmar (and Nigel) and all contributors for keeping it so..

Maybe a poll of the active members could see how everybody feels on the subject?

Kibo

Thanks Ingmar, I sent you a donation just now. Hopefully you will get it in GBP.

I vote to keep this voluntary. I quit the BOA last year not really because it charged a fee but because it didn't have anything like the volume or quality of traffic that we do on this forum.

Cause and effect perhaps?

Cheers guys!

The forums will remain free, as Nigel intended (and I happen to very much agree with him on that). The free model is the reason we have attracted the critical mass of participants that make this forum useful. So far there is no reason to doubt the donation based model, and there is absolutely no pressure to donate if you don't want to.

Many thanks to those who are contributing! We're about halfway there already.

Thank you Yngmar for what you do to keep the forum active.
I find it a very valuable source of information specially for new owners.
I have just made the donation in EUR.
Cheers

Many thanks Yngmar for all you do and have done. Nigel made an excellent choice in having you take over running the forum, and as others have said, this forum brings together a wealth of knowledge and expertise that is difficult, if not impossible, to find elsewhere.
All the best.

Looks like we're covered for 2019 already! Thanks everyone, that went quicker than expected. Any further funds will be used for future hosting costs.

Agree with keeping payments voluntary - this will attract the critical mass. Once the mass is up, the forum will be beneficial enough to attract volunteers.

I have found this forum more beneficial than some local yachting magazines - thus made my contribution as well - but forgot to add any note  :o

If you need any help with hosting let me know, its kind of what I do for a living.
If your host supports CPanel you can/should be able to leverage the very good LetsEncrypt service for the ssl cert.

Well, hopefully we're still OK at the moment and Yngmar will let us know when more is needed...
