Horizon 600 windlass

I have a Horizon 600 windlass on my 2014 Bav 38, which jams when switch to up.
Even with the chain removed the wich goes down ok, but jams going up.
I have taken the gear cover of and all looks ok.
Also when I undo the nut to alow the winch to free wheel down, it does not
free wheel. This winch has not had much use since I have had it, only anchored 3 times.
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Is it calibrated chain thats on it
