Can rail openings fitted afterwards? Hardware sources? One friend installed those to 2012 Jeanneau 36 and found parts somewhere in the UK. He did the work himself dismounting cabinets and whatever. Big job. I probably would have some professional to do job. Any ideas/advise. Would Bavaria factory provide a set?

For clarification with "rail openings" I mean side gates.

Symphony

Yes, they can. Do a search on here for guard rail gates and you will get a thread that explains how to do it and where to source the extra stanchions and bases. Not a cheap job, particularly if you have to pay somebody to fit them.

The factory option had them fitted with the forward double stanchion where the current first stanchion is sited and the aft one further aft so the opening was alongside the cockpit. Google Bavaria 36 images and you will find some photos showing the arrangement.

Many thanks, I'll do the search!

We had to replace damaged gate Stanchions a few years ago. Replacement Stanchions came from the local Bav supplier (in Greece)- readily available. Try SVB if all else fails.
Access to the inside was easy but fiddly. The locker back linings easy to unscrew and then hand access to underside of deck. You can't see the inside nuts but easy enough by feel.

The bolts that secure the bases of the ordinary stanchions are much longer than it appears are actually necessary which means that ordinary sockets are not suitable for use in tightening or undoing the nuts that secure those bolts. This is because they cannot accept the long length of bolt that projects beyond the nut. I don't know if the gateway stanchions you are after are similarly fitted, but it is possible to buy a set of extra deep sockets from stores like Halfords in the UK (£5.99), or you can get some long box spanner's. Either will make life much easier for us ordinary mortals where it comes to handling the nuts that are otherwise accessed best by multi jointed contortionists only !!

The photo below shows a set of the extra long sockets, and also a standard size 13mm socket placed on the left for comparison

This is a good hint, much appreciated!

Also found thread of early this year Symphony mentioned:

Mailed a request to SVB for a full set. Let's see if they can provide.

All the best,
