I just noticed the hatch cover of the rear freshwater tank on my B38 Ocean (1998) is broken and needs to be replaced. Browsed the internet without any success and also SVB etc can't help. I even tried to use a IBC containers cover which principally fits (also 150mm diam) but has a finer thread and therefore can't be closed properly.

Is there anybody out there who had the same problem or any idea where I could get this tank cover?Any help is highly appreciated!

Thanks, Joe

This question comes up from time to time.  Read through this old thread, there's a link at the end which might help.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thanks for the link, Tiger. But unfortunately I did not find a replacement hatch cover.

My solution was a Vetus ILT universal inspection port which, after removal of the old flange, perfectly fits into the old hole. The Vetus ILT is according to my opinion much more reliable than the white inspection ports you can get everywhere and doesn't require  :copdrilling of additional screw holes because it is fixed by compression of a rubber gasket.

Perhaps helpful for someone with the same problem.

Cool, thanks. I welded our cracked lids and they're holding for now, but this is a great solution for if they should break again.

What did you use to cut off the flange and get a neat, round hole? And how did you clean the debris from the tank?

I used a Fein Multimaster with saw blades to cut off the flange which was unexpectedly simple but requires some caution. Some uneveness has also been sanded by the Multimaster. The tank was empty and easy to clean by vacuum cleaner.
